Dallas Voice, May 3, 2007, Staff Reports Leather Knights to hold fundraiser to benefit health center The Leather Knights will hold Military Maneuvers 2007 on May 19 at the
Dallas Eagle, 2515 Inwood Road, beginning at 9 p.m. The event is a fundraiser to
benefit the Nelson-Tebedo Health Resource Center. Military Maneuvers is Leather
Knights’ largest annual fundraiser, held each year on Armed Forces Day. The
event will include a live “USO Show” with lots of entertainers; a silent auction
from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., boot blacking, military haircuts in the back bar and
raffle ticket sales, all from 9 p.m. to 11 a.m. ; a live “recruit” auction; and
a “Best Military Uniform” contest with prizes. Leather Knights, now in its 13th
year, is a social and service organization for people in the leather community.
In the last year, the organization has held benefits for or volunteered with
AIDS Arms, AIDS Interfaith Network, Legacy Founders Cottage, Leather Archives
and Museum, AIDS Services of Dallas, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, DIFFA and
AIDS Services of North Texas. The Leather Knights was named Leather Club of the
Year for 2005 by the Flesh and Fantasy board in recognition of the Knights’
community involvement. The organization also received a 2006 Community Service
Award.
